the factory itself is rather small and would be easily missed when driving down the street. but their chocolate is very big. their dark chocolate is very dark. even their milk chocolate is ok, though i find it pales in comparison to the dark chocolate, excuse the pun.
i took the 11:30 tour which means i had time for a good breakfast. a wise thing considering once the tour starts, chocolate tasting abounds. and once the tour was through i stopped by their cafe for a bowl of hot cocoa and, just for the heck of it, a chocolate scone. it made the knitting so much easier!

Do they still source their chocolate from ... well, "nice" places? When they were on their own, they sourced from sustainable, fair-trade type places. Since they were purchased, though, I've wondered.
It's something we'd always wanted to do, too, and now we've no time!
MMMMMMMMM scones! MMMMMMMMM chocolate! It is too early to be thinking of those things, but now I really want them... Some dark chocolate covered fruit.... that is kinda breakfast like isn't it?
Thanks so much for the note on my blog. I just got up way too early the morning that they posted it and couldn't start doing anything around the house with my hubby asleep so I sat there drinking coffee and doing the hunt. It was a lot of fun, I was lusting after a lot of peoples projects!!!!

Ooooh! I love Cafe Cacao! They have the best food there.
I envy you; you got to go on the tour...I never plan far enough in advance to get a reservation when I have a free day...maybe they have a spot open this weekend.
Have you ever been to the Charle's Chocolates factory in Emeryville? They have wonderful chocolate too.
